TAMPA BAY, FL (February 20, 2012) – For the first time in the history of the Marine Corps Marathon Event Series, participants will receive customized “Ceramic Challenge Coins™” known as Warrior Chips™ to commemorate these momentous occasions. While traditional metal challenge coins have been distributed in the past, the broad appeal of the Warrior Chip™, due in large part to its vibrant designs, durability and affordability made this sponsorship a natural fit.
It is expected that between the four-race MCM Event Series, Health and Wellness Expo and the Marine Corps Marathon, Warrior Chip will distribute over 10,000 ceramic challenge coins to participants. In addition to the coins that will be awarded to Event Series finishers, Warrior Chips will also be awarded to Marine Corps Marathon first-time runners.

- Irish Sprint 10K – March 17, 2012 at Prince William Forest Park
- Run Amuck – June 16, 2012 at Marine Corps Base Quantico
- Gender Defender 5K – August 25, 2012 at Marine Corps Base Quantico
- Turkey Trot 10K – November 17, 2012 at Marine Corps Base Quantico
Additionally, Warrior Chip will have a sponsor booth at the Health and Fitness Expo at the DC Armory leading up to the running of the Marine Corps Marathon. Expo hours vary by day and are listed below:
- Thursday, October 25: 4pm – 8pm
- Friday, October 26: 10am – 7pm
- Saturday, October 27: 9am – 7pm
